Genealogy

In the K'an Tok Tablet, Janab' Ajaw is said to have been the grandson of K'inich Janab' Pakal I. Presumably, if he was the son of either K'inich Kan B'alam II or K'inich K'an Joy Chitam II, he would have succeeded them before K'inich Akul Mo' Nab' III. It therefore follows that he was the son of another child of K'inich Janab' Pakal I. There are two alternative possibilities (of which I favour the first).



The first possibility is that Janab' Ajaw was the son of a fourth child of K'inich Janab' Pakal I:

The second possibility has Janab' Ajaw is the younger brother of K'inich Akul Mo' Nab' III:
